There is a shortage of natural nesting sites, which is thought to be one of the major factors behind the decline of some of our once most-common birds. By putting up nest boxes, such as this, which replicates a bird's natural nesting preferences, you can encourage them to breed near your home.
The Juneau is one of our new white-wash nest box range and is taller in size. With a fly-in opening of 34 mm it is suitable for slightly larger garden birds including Sparrows, Pied Flycatchers, Treecreepers and Collared Redstarts. The wooden roof is covered with metal plate, adding to the durability of the box whilst the wood underneath prevents the temperature in the nest box from rising unnecessarily.
The nest box can be opened at the side for cleaning after the breeding season. This is generally around October when you can be sure that no more birds are breeding inside A clean nest box will also attract birds who want to use it as a shelter during colder winter months.
The wood of this nest box is provided with a water-based white-wash paint layer and together with its grey metal apex roof becomes an attractive contemporary nest box for any garden.
